The idea of writing a Blog appeals to me for reasons I can't explain. When I come to the point of actual composition however, the words fail to flow. My partner Kimberly sowed the seed of a Blog into my head by writing her own, mostly about me and our relationship (http://kimberlyandvernon.blogspot.com/). Perhaps then my own Blog should be an add-on, a supplement if you will, to Kimberly's Blog, where I endeavour to ensure my placement upon that pedestal isn't too high .
How did the story of Kimberly and I begin? Well Kimberly covers the origins suitably in her Blog. For my part it was 1999 and I was an empty vessel. I found myself shipwrecked from previous relationships, two to be precise, in relatively quick succession. With a child from each wreck I made a promise that I would never turn my back on my two castaways and that they would always come first.
Back in 1999 I made an exciting discovery that led to finding someone wonderful. Midway through 1999 I discovered the Internet. At first I had no idea what to do with this marvel of technology and wonder, but I found the thought of writing to a person in a foreign land amazing. I wasn't brave enough to even consider chatting to someone in real-time, so I posted an ad for a Pen-Pal. I had one reply, Just one. I had called out to the entire world and only one soul answered back. One person in Six Billion. Kimberly is that one in Six Billion, I wasn't looking for anything with that Pen-Pal post, not romance, love or sex. There was no expectation, plan or alterer motive, but without that post I would never have met my best friend and the missing part of me.
So it comes down to Numbers.
Two People in a World of over Six Billion,
Two People 3710 Miles apart,
Eleven years together and going strong....
...and one very lucky Guy!
